Any body re-cone / replace the foam surround on a Hi-Fi speaker?

Any of you Hi-Fi folks out there replace the rotted foam on speakers? I was given a pair of Bose 301's but the foam surround on the bass drivers are "gone". Found a place to get kits to fix them but is it worth it?

it's easy if the old foam surrounds and dust cap come off clean.

1. cut thickish magazine paper to use as shims to center the voice coil. place shims at 120 degrees apart, inserting an equal number of shims at each point till voice coil sticks but can still be moved by hand.
2. glue surround to cone, with cone lifted slightly from natural rest.
3. glue surround to frame
