Hello all,

I’m having an issue? with these fermenters. The 1st one I received had pitting/gap where they joined the bottom

I asked for an exchange and the new one has a lesser mark

I’ve always heard about the cons of plastic buckets due to scratches etc so I’m a bit paranoid about this. Would a typ pbw wash and starsan before using it be ok? Any advice would help.

Cheers?

Larry

You're PROBABLY fine, but honestly I would send it back again. This QC is far below what I've heard Anvil's standards are and for the money you're paying you shouldn't have to deal with pits and scratches. In a BK it's one thing but a fermenter shouldn't have any of these problems.

Sanitary welds are smooth to the touch and polished to look like it’s part of the fermenter wall.

It’s a pain sending it back again I agree.

I had two and both were sent back and obtained a refund. Their QC and manufacturing plant/process sucks.

WOW I have 3 I had to do a little cleaning up on 1 or 2 took all of 15 minutes but that's pretty nasty they looked nothing like that. I guess these are hit or miss that's a shame

Got the replacement today. Same issues

That’s 3 in a row. Can’t believe asking for another would change the outcome......

it is a well known cosmetic defect with these but I have not seen any reports of infection from it myself.. see above post for another thread discussing it.

btw the same ring line where the bottom was welded on has been reported on other kettles and fermenters like SS brewtech and even blichmanns other products, just not as often or consistently.

be that what it may neither of those imperfections can be touted to be a ‘sanitary finish’. A sanitary finish means no imperfections as in cavitation or inclusions in the weld.

If these vessels were advertised as such, and I doubt they could be, you have been seriously misled.
