After a bit of a break, I got back to brewing the weekend before last and got my first experience using a pump!

Having nothing to compare it to, it's difficult to provide much info on the new Anvil XP but here is what I noticed:

- The pump was absolutely silent, you could barely tell it was on it was so quiet. Very happy with this

- The prv style air bleeder valve is worth its weight I'm gold! Not only does it make priming the pump simple and easy, but the hose barb comes in clutch by keeping things clean. I realized after my brew ended that I could also recycle any purged wort back into the kettle in order to improve my Brewhouse efficiency (correct me if I misused that term), and most importantly for me I found it to be an excellent access point for pulling samples during the mash recirculation!

- the only downside I found was the strength of the pump. It wasn't necessarily bad, but with about 7 feet of 1/2" ID hose and with the pump about 18" below my whirlpool inlet, I found myself wondering what more power would be like. I didn't end up with a nice cone at the bottom of my kettle on my first attempt at a whirlpool, but I was able to rack off all but half a gallon of sludge from the kettle (with 8 oz of kettle hops) which is by far my best attempt yet. I'll be raising the pump up about 8-10" before my next brew to help the power situation a little bit but it's definitely not a "problem" for me, but a bit more juice would be nice.

All in all, the pump rocks. Easy to assemble, well built, and so so quiet. I highly recommend for anyone without miles of hoses, Herms coils or anything else that might create some additional drag.
