I found an antique metal igloo 5 gal. Cooler for a good price . Not sure how good the insulation is in them , want to use it as a mash tun . Anybody know anything about them , or use one before ?

If it is what I'm thinking, it is metal, galvanized outside with a stainless liner. I believe I have heard positive things about those old coolers. A pic would help to evaluate.

i've seen a ton of them with plastic inside as well.

would love to get my hands on one! thats for sure

yea thats the one,she dosen't have a picture of the inside im thinking it's plastic.you guys are saying it should hold temp?

I have a 5 gallon with a plastic liner and a 10 gallon one with a stainless steel liner. My wife got them both at yard sales. I sometimes use the 10 gallon as a MLT. The insulation wasn't great, so I drilled some 1/8" diameter holes into the outside and pumped in spray insulation. Hold temperature pretty well now.
