Never made a starter before, so I have no experience with them. I made a starter with Wyeast British Ale 1098 on Friday night with 1/2 cup light DME and 2 cups water. I shook the wort up before I pitched and had occasionally picked it up and resuspended the yeast through the weekend. I put an airlock on and didn't notice any bubbling at all over the weekend. Their is a layer of yeast on the bottom, but no krausen at any point. Is this normal?
As usual, I didn't get around to brewing on Sunday, so I capped the starter that was made in a 1 gallon juice container (cleaned & sanitized before use) and put it in the fridge. Is the starter OK? Should I have done anything different? What should I do in anticipation of my next available brew date? Take it out of the fridge, let it warm on its own and step it up with another 1/2 cup DME & 2 cups water, then pitch a day or 2 later?
