Hello

I've made beer and cider but never wine.

I'd like to make 5 gallons of anniversary wine for my wife and I. Plan to bottle and cork it. Would preferably like to drink a bottle every anniversary.

Problem is my wife only likes sweet wines like Moscato and Riesling. Do these wines age well?

Any suggestions for me on how I can accomplish this? I plan on buying a kit from Northern brewing since this will be our first wine experiment.

Thanks

No, whites don't generally age well.

Apfelwein, maybe some oak?

Be sure to sulfite whatever you do.

@yooper may have ideas, she's the wine guru (ok, maybe just overall guru, but she likes wine)

Thanks for the tip.

I had heard that Reislings age decently well? I'm not necessarily looking for something that has to improve with years... I just don't want something that will spoil/taste poorly.

Be sure to buy the premium corks, #9.

Also, keep them dark, and keep them cool.

Can I reccomend a sweet red? Maybe Raspberry? That would ask decently, I think!

Thanks for the suggestion! Any specific kit suggestions? I'll make sure to get the good corks.

White wines such as white burgundy, Chablis, some Chardonnay can all be aged 3-5 yrs as long as they're store properly.
I agree on possibly making a semi sweet red, you could make it into a sparkling wine, in my opinion, opening up a bottle of bubbly on your anniversary would be very cool!

You are not a novice, as you've made cider. Wine is basically the same thing.
I'd recommend jumping into Fresh Fruit. Go to the store, and load up and Raspberries, preferably on sale. 3-4 lbs per gallon. The more, the more intense the taste.

Kits are just that. Kits. Blah. Kit taste. Water and Raspberries! WIN!
