I have a iphone 4. I got it right after they came out. I have had no issues with it. Its been one of the best phones I have had. No experience with a droid so I cant tell you anything about it.

I have an Android phone and love it. I like getting something that works better, does more and costs less. Plus I don't look like an iSheep. :D

(let the bashing by the Apple fanboys commence)

I just got my maxx last week and love it. Battery life is amazing, it would be even better when i turn
y wi-fi on.
Its very easy to use and set up. Would be even better if it had icecream sandwich on it.
From my understanding the new Iphone 5 will be out in june.

I have the Droid Razr and couldn't be happier with it. I was thinking of getting the Razr Maxx, but they didn't have any in stock when I went to the Verizon store. I didn't want to wait until they could ship me one, so I went with the regular Razr. I saved some more by getting the one without the microSD card in it, since I had a 16GB card from my Storm2. I've since installed a 32GB card to replace the 16GB card (under $30 from Amazon).

I showed my Razr to a friend with an iphone and he's jealous... The Razr has a larger display, is thinner and is 4G [LTE]. It's also fast. My only complaint is the battery life on it. I can get more than a day on a charge IF I'm in mostly 4G areas. If it goes to 3G, or when it's hard to get any signal, the battery goes fast. Same with most phones there though. I have picked up an external batter (to charge the phone when I can't plug it in) for pretty cheap (about $40 from Amazon) so that's really not an issue now. With the combination, I have a normally thin, light, phone that has the same runtime as the maxx for less money.

Also, if you want freedom to get the apps YOU want, and not be restricted to just what apple wants to let you have, get something running the Android OS. If you don't mind being locked into using iTunes to manage the phone, or getting only the software apple wants to let you have, then go with the iphone. Personally, I refuse to drink the apple cool-aid...

People who are more tech savvy tend to prefer the added functionality of android. People who care more about a clean intuitive interface tend to prefer iPhones. I'd read up on some reviews and make an informed decision.

Have you compared current offerings of both in person?? It sounds like you have not. From what I've seen of the iphone, it's no more intuitive than the Android OS on most phones out there (gingerbread, or 2.x and newer). I'm running 3.x on a tablet, and it's no less intuitive than what apple releases. Or, phrased more realistically, apple doesn't offer anything better. Definitely not worth the extra money you spend on the apple products (easily double what I spent on my tablet).

I used to be a huge fan of apple products. That ended a few years back when I finally had enough of their 'better than everyone else' attitude. They treat enterprise customers like crap, or no better than Joe Schmuck off the street. There are other practices that they have which seriously hinder their adoption within companies (other than their toy devices, like the iphone and ipad)... I sold my last apple laptop about two years ago and have zero intention of EVER buying another one. The ONLY reason I still have an ipod is due to the stereo unit in my truck working well with it. Next vehicle I won't want one that's so tied to apple products. If I could get that to work with my phone (the deck is old enough I doubt it would) I would drop kick the ipod to the curb. I might even change the stereo for exactly that reason actually. Especially since it won't work well with anything running anything newer than ipod os 3.x... /rant

Worst phone I ever owned ran on the droid platform...I got an Iphone 4s fro x-mas, and don't think I'll ever switch back. Everything works easily, and intuitive, and quite plainly, it works. I couldn't say that about the other phone.

I have an Android phone and my wife has an iPad. After using Andoid, I cannot stand iOS. There are some many times I am using the iPad and there are things that I can't do that I can do on the Android so much easier. There is no way I would buy an iPhone or iPad right now.

Not to mention the whole Flash issue.

Had the original iphone. I switched to the Driod incredible when it first came out. It's been a good phone, but I miss the iphone. My wife just got the 4S and loves it. I'm debating whether to get the 4s or wait until the Iphone 5 comes out in the fall. My incredible is starting to have some glitches and I'm ready for a new phone. C'mon Apple, put the I5 out already..

I'm going to be getting a Droid Maxx very soon. Spent a few days doing research on them and being a loyal Android fangirl the decision was pretty easy.

The battery life is amazing.
They are pretty sturdy, seem to be able to survive being dropped and/or knocked around a bit.
The display is nice.
The camera is great for a smartphone
Most apps are free and/or not expensive

I am grandfathered into an unlimited data plan, so I'm sticking with Verizon until they discontinue that deal. :)

The only thing I didn't like about the Droid Maxx was that it's almost too big for my small hands, but since I use a bluetooth headset to talk on the phone, this thing really meets my needs for having a portable computer at my disposal.

Definitely a win in my book.

I've gotten to mess around with both android and iPhones. The difference is not that big in the interface as far as I saw. I have an Android and love it.

I will say this, depending on your carrier, ATT plus iPhone 4s = fastest internet. I read reviews that claimed this and didn't believe, then compared my phone to another Droid and the 4s of a coworkers, the 4s is Damn quick on the web. If that is ultra important then it makes the decision easy.

I carry an iPod touch and a Froyo phone everywhere. iOS is by far the better OS for media playback. It's a toss-up for browsing. Android is much more hacker-friendly.

The iPhone's camera is pretty solid, but the display is too small.

The camera in the Droid Razr (and Razr Maxx) is really nice. I'd say on par with what's in the iponers... Also really like being able to expand the memory, or change the microSD cards as I wish. Being locked into a set amount of storage in a phone is a huge negative for me. Try to expand the memory in an iphoner and see what happens. I'm not talking about something you connect to the device and use either a cable or wireless connection to. I'm talking about storage you can use when you're away from everything else and left any cable other than what you use to charge the device with.

iPhone in my opinion and the opinion of all my buddies that are ex droid owners as far as the battery goes you will more then Likley never have worry about that as mine still holds charge like its brand new ( 3 to 3.5 year old 3GS waiting for the 5) and i am on this thing all day i barley ever even browse the web on a computer anymore and as far as hackability goes its pretty endless on the iPhone you can even down grade to the android OS if you like don't know why you would but it's a option

I have a DROID x for almost two years. Can't wait to chuck it off a bridge when the iphone 5 comes out.

Perfect example, my battery cover is currently taped on bc I wore out the tips of the cover from taking it off so much to do a battery pull to hard reset.

Pretty sure that was the point. :)

Yep. When you've had a phone where you've accidentally broken the USB port and it's out of warranty... batteries become a big deal. I also travel a lot and go long periods without the ability to plug a phone in though need to use the phone for talk and internet capabilities, so spare batteries are essential for me. An iPhone's singular battery life wouldn't cut it.

I also like the ability to swap memory cards, the whole xda scene, and can't wait for the whole thing Ubuntu is doing to take off since I use that as my OS.

I have a droid bionic and the wife has a iPhone 4s.

The iPhone is a bit more responsive but my LTE service makes hers look like its searching for a week to get yelp reviews. Removable & up-gradable SD storage are a huge plus as is the above mentioned battery options.

There are lots pros and cons, find a buddy with one and another with the other and play with them both. Most good apps are on both platforms so play games and make calls.

I love my droid and she couldn't have anything but an iPhone.

i find myself leaning towards waiting for the iphone 5 to come out... some say they the iphone is not customizable... i believe i find that a selling point... i kinda just want it to be the way it is... if im wrong please tell me

It's not as if external batteries don't exist. See Mophie.

I know they do... but it's ridiculous that you have to turn the thing into a Zack Morris phone to do things practically every other phone in history has been able to accomplish without. They're also incredibly expensive. For the price of something like one of those I could get an external charger plus like 10 spare batteries.

I've been in IT for 14 years and prefer the iPhone. We deployed VPN on demand and have developed in house applications for trading commodities securely. Something that couldn't be done with the Android.

Why couldn't it? I can get VPN on Demand with my phone and it's still running an old version of Android (2.2)?

Razr Maxx user here, and love it. Wife got an iphone, and to test it I sent her an email and said 'send me a picture in the reply' -- lo and behold, it won't let you add an attachment to an e-mail reply. Whoda thunk!? Seemed like a pretty basic task to me, but pretty much solidified my opinion of the iphone vs android debate.

Now, if only the HBT android app let me start a new thread. It says 'please select an appropriate thread prefix from the drop down' -- of which there is no drop down (re which I was actually searching about on the forum when I came across this thread)

You can absolutely attach a photo—go to the photos app, select the photo you want, and either use the share button, or if you already have an email open, tap and hold, select copy, go back to your email, tap and hold, and choose paste.

FWIW, I'm firmly in the iPhone camp—I had the original Droid for a couple years, and I liked it for the first few months, but it seemed like every time new software came out, it got slower. I switched to the iPhone 4 a year ago, and don't regret it one bit.

However, that's not to say Android is bad. It really is a well made OS, but it really depends on what you like. For me, the Apple ecosystem (apps, music, etc.) is much more user friendly, but if you're not a fan of that, Android is for you. Also, in my experience with the Droid (which, again, ended about a year ago), the quality of apps in general is nowhere near as good as iOS. Many of the apps I use every day (Reeder, Tweetbot, etc.) have no rival in the Android Market.

Windows Phone is pretty interesting, but unfortunately, it doesn't have much developer support, so you'll have a hard time finding great apps.

So, really what it boils down to is: it depends :). You're never going to get a consensus from asking a bunch of people, so you'll just have to go and play around with both and see what you like most.

Im a computer repair guy and i disagree. My laptop and desktop are where I get my functionality.

I don't need a phone to do more than make calls, give me directions, email, and have a stable browser. Oh and work with my credit card reader for sales. All while being reliable and stable. Android has not provided that and the app market is flooded with garbage, poorly written, backyard apps.

I keep hearing how superior the app store is to the Android market and honestly I don't see it. I have multiple friends with iPhones and have had no problem finding same or similar apps. Since the market hasn't adopted the Apple walled garden approach of course a bit of active filtering on a user's part is needed but I'd rather do that then have Apple hold my hand and tell me I can't gave this app or give me that app and then mysteriously take it away.

Totally agreed. I'd rather choose what apps I want rather than have someone at Apple decide what I'm allowed to use.

And this is why android's reliability will never match apple. Running apps made by people who don't know what they're doing affecting your phones performance.

Yes, and what was the most recent statistic on Android malware growth? Something like 3,000% over the last year, IIRC.
