Sure - I love drinking my beer but I get a rush from creating and brewing - I love the feeling of making something. Having great beer as a end product helps I guess but as soon as I get one batch started I'm thinking of the next.

I drink to make room for more beer.....I would WAY rather brew than drink. The good beer is a nice benefit of brewing...but for me it's only about 30% of the entire experience.

I think I like designing and making new equipment or ways to make the process easier for me just as much as making the beer. And good beer is a bonus.

Personally I dig the simple fact that I can make beer. I think that is way cool. I like to drink it too, don't get me wrong. But I really think it is cool being able to make it.

I'm on my first batch and I think it's F*ing AMAZING that I am employing hundreds of BILLIONS of microorganisms to make me beer! I mean, how big is 5 micrometers??? can any of us even comprehend that? The fact that there's a tiny organism that turns sugar into alcohol and even CARBONATES the damn thing for you is INCREDIBLE to me. Too good to be true. Proof of G-d? I think so.

I have to agree its fun. I don't drink. Never really have. No reason, just never got into it and I still love making Cider and am working on doing my first beer. I seem to have enough people that have volunteered to drink my brews for me so I will have room to make more. Isn't that nice of them :D

Man, I'm so glad it's not just me that thinks this. Drinking's awesome, but brewing is awesome on a much higher level. :mug:

i find the brewing relaxing after the stress at work so i brew way more than i can/should drink myself.
last winter i had 700 bottles in the basement.
my friends co-workers like that i share so much beer

When I drink a homebrew, flashes of grains and mashtuns fill my brain, so a large part of my drinking experience is brewing.

It's wizardry man. It's hard to believe that we actually make this stuff. Serious homebrewing is one of the most satisfying things a man (ok, women too) can do. I don't know an experienced brewer that doesn't still love to see the airlock or blowoff tube chugging away when he wakes up in the morning.

Cleanup and bottling suck though.

I am a big fan of handing my beer out to friends. In turn I get to make more. I like the science and the math behind it. I like that when people come to my house for parties/BBQ they get something they cannot get anywhere else, and LOVE it!!. I like watching peoples eyes light up when I tell them I make my own beer... and that I share!!. This is such a great hobby/profession. Its crazy more people don't do it.
Ya Ya Ya I drink the hell out of it too!!!!!!!

More and more people are realizing that non-brewers are incomplete and becoming homebrewers themselves. We have homebrewing to thank for the craft beer movement in the US. It is amazing; we have more beer styles available here than anywhere in the world!

LOL! This is the best analogy on home brewing I've ever read! :)

Cheers.
Tony.

I really don't drink alot, but I sure do enjoy making it, and I have enough friends who are willing to help me out on the drinking end.

I've been a baker for 20+ years and in corporate America there is no place for creativity.

But at home I can do https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f72/drunk-owl-mango-55227/ and have people(me included ) love it

+1 to the baker. Not only does he get to use yeast during brew sessions, but also in bread sessions.

I'm a chef(duh), so when I create something, I enjoy it more and I'm able to tastes its complexity better. The same goes for beer. Even beer I drink that I didn't make is more interesting to me now that I know how it was made. It's definately MAKING the beer that makes it better, not just making better beer.:mug:

Not me. I'm in it for the keg, that goes in the fridge, that comes out of the tap, that fills my glass.

Brewing is relaxing, sure. But it's a lot of work. I'm constantly having to keep myself motivated to keep going. Picking up a case of beer is a lot easier than working my arse off for 6 hours on the weekend.

I love to brew, and it's right up there with drinking beer...it's the bees knees man. That being said, one of my favorite things is when you are walking down the street and smell someone else brewing. Makes for a great adventure, and usually new friends. I also really love sitting outside our local brew pub on their brew days and getting to smell large batches brewing while I'm drinking what they're brewing...man I love beer.
