Seems like the main advantage is that the non caustic leaves a silicate coating which is apparently more resilient to beer stone build up. Doesn't seem to be more environmentally friendly. All of the cleaning liquid would be considered hazardous waste in an industrial setting.

Perhaps, but as the article points out, the mixing of the cleaners neutralizes the acid/base effects at the treatment plant prior to pouring down the drain, they are eliminating one of the rinsing stages, and the pre-/post-rinses are done with ambient temp. water, reducing the energy used to heat traditionally hot rinses. As it states, all combined this appears to "reduce the amount of time, chemical and water required."
