Im currently brewing stout from a coopers kit.

It seems to be producing a hell of alot of fermentation gases.

I was using a S -shape airlock but the foam off the stout started to come up though the airlock so i panicked and swaped airlocks to a 2 piece airlock.

Is this much gas normal? The lid of the fermantation bucket is bulging!

Ok so heres my make shift blowoff tube -

Seems to be doing the job.

I normaly moan that there isnt much action as far as fermentation goes!

Why is it producing so much gas?

Put the container on the floor, not on top of the fermenter! Make sure the end of the blow off tube is under water.

It might be more active because the temperature in the fermenter got warm?

Its exciting and also nerve wrecking!

Yer dont realise how much my girlfriend will kill me if this explodes in the spare room!

Cheers for the help guys.
