Never been to an Allagash release, any tips? I will be in town and am planning on stopping in for coolship red. Are they typically lines? Do I need to be a tool and go early? Any info would be appreciated...

Usually pretty chill. There will be a line but nothing ridiculous. It is also a Bissell Swish day so that might increase crowds a little bit. Getting there shortly before or just after opening should be just fine for Coolship.

Any Portland locals know if there's anything special still kicking around at Allagash? I suppose Red's long gone at this point?

Is this different from Session Brett? Sounds like the same beer

I am guessing it's a slightly tweaked recipe. They list it as a separate beer on their website (or, I shouldn't really say that - they list Little Brett as having been first released in november 2015).

I definitely thought it tasted different than Session Brett but not hugely so. Maybe a different brett strain?

It's in 4-packs. Big enough difference for me!

I am hugely disappointed in Little Brett. I get burnt, acrid notes from the brett in this one. Session Brett is the beer I've always wished they'd bottle. House beer crates of Session Brett? Yes, please. LB is no SB by a long shot, IMO.

Does anyone know what's going on with the latest batch of Cerise? It was bottled on the same day as Red in December I believe.

Really hope this weekend's Coolship Cerise release lasts like Coolship Red did. Visiting Portland next Thursday/Friday and would love to snag some. Neddles being released as well.

The 6 (?!) bottle limit would indicate a huge batch, which definitely helps your chances. Bissell leaving the neighborhood (and taking their crowds with them) also will probably help.

Allagash releases are impossible to predict these days though.

I'm hoping this batch is better than the last one (3/2014) which was super acetone heavy and IMO the worst coolship release so far.

Going to try and make it up on Sunday. Figured the next Coolship release would be Resurgam, which I'd love to see again. Haven't had Cerise so this will be a treat.

To my tastes, there's only been one very good batch of Cerise so far. I forget which date it was (might have been the October 2012 bottling), but it was immediately recognizable by a very light color - the Allagash guys told me there was a different cherry blend than normal in that one. Someday, I hope they will nail Cerise - seems like a kriek should be "easy" in the context of lambic as there are so many great examples, but I've generally felt that it was one of the weakest wilds Allagash produces.

Seems like people only care about blueberries...

I picked up Nancy there last Sunday with no limit so something with cherries in it might be there. Tasted great from the sample I had. I think I might prefer it over Cerise which has always been so-so to me.
