Can't you buy house beer without buying the crate?

Last time I was there (fall) it wasn't avaliable.

AFAIK you have to buy House Beer by the crate and with the wooden crate.

House beer is like, the ideal beer to buy a case of, go on vacation, and just crush like 8 a day.

thanks man! what i really want is the beer! the crate is just a plus i suppose. $60 is not bad, i'll have to grab one when i'm up next weekend.

You can probably sell the crate for more than $20 as there are people that likely want the crate without the beer.

If it's the thread I saw, it looked completely disorganized, and you could blatantly tell all the guys were waiting for someone else in the group to offer up their room for the share, since they didn't want it in their own room. Last I saw, they were discussing renting an entirely new room just for the share...

There is a discussion going on in private BM between about 8 of us right now. We tried asking allagash if we could do it there but got no response. But you're right, no one wants to offer up their own room. I was hoping to do it at Novare or a restaurant somewhere around town, but they said the places there would most likely not let us do that? Are you going?

They won't let you do it at Allagash. I can't think of anywhere offhand in Portland that's BYOB, though I'm sure there's somewhere I'm forgetting.

I am going, yes.

IMO Novare, followed by Allagash would be the two WORST places to try and do a share. They're both going to be jammed to the gills and over run with people. They have their own **** to worry about, not a bunch of people not drinking the beer they're selling or giving them any money. I'm all for a fun share, but those are 2 bad ideas IMO.

Someone needs to muscle up and do it in their room

I think it will be hard to organize a huge share... I may bring a couple bottles but everyone is spread out... not to mention I want to do Novare and enjoy the city a bit

That is a really brutal Motel 6. I stayed there in February for the All-Stars party. On the plus side, 99% sure the room next door had a hooker, so you might get lucky for cheap!

I stayed there for beer camp last year it wasn't THAT bad. We had a bottle share in someone's room (it also smelled very green in that room when we were done) and no one complained. Bonus of having Jason Alstrom a couple doors down too!

Um, I have a loft downtown and can accommodate a few addl people. We are going to be cracking a bunch of good stuff including DDG, CD 10 11, V15, BA Cellarman etc.

And as far as "smelling green" it's totally decrim in Portland. Just make sure you say "concentrates" and not shatter, wax etc.

Yup they can every week now, I think this week is the seasonal debut of Baby Genius their session ale which imo is the best thing they make. Substance will be available too.
