From Cantillon: "The Friendship blend will only be to taste during the UQintessence that will take place begin of May (more info follows on our website in the coming weeks) and there will be no bottles for sale."

I read about the October event, its something like 6 courses of food/cheese from Italian chefs, each paired with Cantillon beers (some courses had more than one, including Foune, 12 yr old gueuze, Iris, etc ). Plus other brewery beers...

IT cost 18 euro... ARE YOU ******* KIDDING ME?! A local bar here tried to do a similar event, the beer was Stone Vertical Epic though (i think 3-9 and 12,13?) and it cost over $200. Vertical Epic guys. $200.

America....

Wait wait wait, so the collaboration will not be bottled at all?

And here I was about to draw up some very specific instructions for family who will be visiting Europe in late spring...

Yeah I hear you. I think they might be bottling and only allowing onsite consumption, might be the easiest way for them. Pity, I had a guy in brussels ready to mule me one that I was going to surprise a regular trading partner with. Balls.

With Cantillon sending kegs to Allagash & RR for them to blend their own, I guess it's possible they might bottle and release the resulting blend... though I think it's unlikely.

Here's hoping I'm proven wrong!

It'll probably be bottled just because that's the best way to do lambic, I think he means that no bottles will be sold. Though I guess he could've just mixed the 3 kegs together and put them back into kegs...

So this is what your Facebook post was referencing, huh?

Yeah. Bottles will still make their way into the wild.

Along with the ~$100 BADL tasting which included 1-2oz pours of illegally procured bottles. Does this surprise you?

I least that was good beer!
Hey, let them figure out the capitalism of the situation, it's a situation of a business trying to make a buck of the beer geek culture without "getting it". They are way off on some of their "rare" bottles (though i did buy a Bramble there for $40 a few months ago, thought that was pretty good for bar price), but still better than the tap for regular prices! You can still walk in today with $195 and walk out with a BA Dark Lord, so it's nice to have that in your pocket!

It was bottled, there's photos on the Cantillon and Allagash facebooks, but I think the idea is that none of the bottles will be "released." But what Michigan said.

Makes me curious what Allagash will do, retail store/ tasting room tap only, special dinner? Cantillon seems to be the "lead" on this collab so I can't really see Allagash doing their own bottle release now. But here's hoping...

Has anyone heard anything from Russian River on their piece in all this, have they even mentioned being involved in it anywhere?

They posted photos of the event with ~8 people or so, if my memory serves me right.

Wow, good for them if they actually sold those tickets (and they weren't freebies or employee discounts!). i wonder if i hosted a Bruery Christmas tasting if i could make $1600? that would be a helluva Etre order :)

Why anyone is excited to try a beer that's only 1/3 lambic is beyond me.
Have you had Allagash Resurgam? it is in my opinion the closest to thing to a gueuze that America has produced to date. I know I haven't had everything under the sun but i have tried a good amount of the American takes on gueuze like beers.

Same here, it's not on the level of 3F/Cantillon/Tilquin, but it's better than many Belgian gueuzes.
