all grain with an electric stove?

I just did a 6 gallon boil on my electric coil today with my first AG. I insulated my 32qt pot with aluminum foil and thin fiberglass insulation. I managed to get a vigorous boil going, but was having trouble getting it there. I came up with a simple solution!

I found that a clean hand towel draped about 2/3 of the way over the pot gave just enough extra heat to get it going vigorously. This way the DMS condensate would not drip back into the pot! I flipped it 2 or 3 times just to be safe about any condensate, but I'm sure I could have left it alone throughout the boil.

'grats on the success

I just scale my recipes down to 2 1/2 gallons and do all grain on my apartment stove. Yeah I don't end up with a lit of beer but I like brewing and it gives me a chance to experiment.

Spot on...love the ability to experiment with smaller batches, and its easier to maintain on a stove.

I have the a flat-top stove and I highly suggest following some the insulation ideas. I do 1-gallon batches on it with no issue. Consider your pot your using to, higher the quality, the better it will go...and clean the glass with kitchen-top glass cleaner first.

Everyone mentions the auto shut off when the top gets to hot, but I boil on high with mine and it has never shut off
