Algaecide

There has been posts regarding some alternate sanitizing solutions and just had to add post todays findings. Part of my job has to do with safe storage of pool chems. A box of Aqua Chems Algaecide 10% caught my attention because the box was labled as a reactive product. This was odd since I know it as non reactive. I decided to read the makeup to make sure I was not overlooking anything and to my surprise I quickly recognized it as the same thing as Quat sanitizer. When I got home I pulled data sheets for algaecide and a Quat made by Clorox. Both listed identical chemicals and percentages but algaecide had the addition of ethonal. The best thing is it can be had for $7 gallon. Now for my disclaimer, this information is for novelty purposes and nothing more.

Though it seems no one appears to have in interest in my findings I will post my latest research and let it die.

I pulled data sheets on several different versions of aglaecide and compared them to the Clorox Quat. Not all contained quaternary ammonium salts but the ones that did shared the same makup or very close to it. Even with enough quat on hand to last several years, I can't help but to put my findings to the real test in the near future.

What particular brands do you find most appropriate? And what use/process - the same as Quat?
