Advantages of conical fermenters?

Why is a conical fermenter better than plastic or a carboy (if it is better)?

bennifits to conicals i think are listed in one of the stickies.... but the short list, fewer transfers (less places to clean and get infections), easy yeast collection, easy trub removal.

The more you ferment the bigger the advantage, the major disadvantage to me is that i wouldnt want one that is less than 15 gallons for 10 gallon batches, but then I would not be able to move it easily.

This. I firmly believe the perceived quality of one's beer is directly proportional to the amount of kit you've got, preferably shiny stainless.

Definitely the top thing is they are shiny and look cool. Sure there are actual benefits but for the cost of a ss conical you can buy a lot of yeast so for home brewers yeast reuse is nice but not an adequate reason to get one. Get one if you can temp control it and want the bling.

And you can use it as a giant beer bong!
You can get a plastic one for pretty cheap. They work pretty well. There is a thread about a simple plastic conical in the DIY section.
