adding whirlpool to keggle

i have weldless fitting that i use with my march pump, and currently i have just been pretty much recirculating the hot wort over the top of the kettle as i use my IC. it helps with the temp drops but makes for a mess of the hot break and hop trub. i figured i would step it up and add a return into the kettle, pretty much duplicating the valve i have now. on the inside, i would have a 90 degree elbow and a short (say six inch) piece of copper tubing bent slightly with the curve of the kettle. here is my ghetto 20 second sketch :rockin:

would you guys recommend that i have the return just above the wort level, or submerged? i was going to go with submerged. any other input before i run to the hardware store?

I would have the return under the wort level.

For the cost of the ball valve and all the hardware, I suspect that it would be much cheaper to make the return out of tubing and come up over the side ala

Also, you'll definitely want the wort to return "submerged" to help prevent HSA. Assuming it actually exists.
