Hi everyone, my wife and I grow a lot of veggies in our raised beds, and I grow a bunch of grapes already for wine. This year I've decided to add in some hops. I have built some 2-foot by 2-foot beds between our existing beds that I plan to grow the hops in. It is open soil below the boxes so the roots can grow down.

I built a 20+ foot tall set of 2 lines on an old laundry pole, and two 8 foot lines on the other side. Those 2 then go sideways 4 more feet.

I have 4 rizomes ordered, coming in a couple weeks.

Do the photos look ok? Any suggestions for changes to make?

Looks good. I might suggest using two ropes on the taller T trellis so you can lower the bines to harvest. As you have it now, it looks like you have it set for the bines to grow up both sides but then you won't have the ability to lower them. It's nice to harvest hops with your feet on the ground.

^^ Agreed. If you can setup a lowering system that'll be worth it.

For the shorter side, I can't train my hops to wrap around a horizontal line. Really, no big deal though, I just help them every couple days. The way I see it, is its quality bonding time

Added a pulley and another rope today. Will see if that works ok having them both come down together. If not then next year I'll add separate ropes/pulleys.

So a bit of an update, first year went pretty well. The Chinook did best, got maybe 90 cones from that. Cascade I got 35. Nothing from the magnum or nugget, but the bines grew well on those too, about 10ft for both. I dried them and froze them. Will proba
