I was wondering if that might be where you were going with this
With the valve open and eyeballing it with a ruler it looks like the two openings are 3/8" x 1/2" which should get you a net 3/4" opening or very close to it...
Well my eyeballs ain't what they used to be, I am able to slip an 19/64" drill bit into the spaces on either side of the butterfly, but since those openings aren't round there is still a bit of daylight on either side of the bit. I would still say the total net opening will be pretty darn close to 3/4".
FWIW, mine supplies a center inlet Chugger head that has a 3/4" input that I have reduced down to 1/2" for use with camlocks.
A pretty common setup I would think.
Its the large nano chugger, the inlet is 1" and it warns that it needs at min a 3/4" opening and no restricting of flow in the inlet side. Outlet is 1/2" and you can restrict it on that side.
Going with this pump since I'm building a 1bbl brewery and I will be pumping as far as 20' away from the brew kettle. Plus pumping 31 gallons of wort thru a chiller.if
