Doing a Mac n' Jacks clone tonight with a friend. I promise I'll try not to let him get hooked <evil-grin>.

This should be fun, I even already have bottled water on ice for wort-chilling and a space set out for the primary to sit when it's done because just like cooking; prep is everything. I have to cut the stopper hole in the lid for the primary (it's a brand new primary), and obviously wash and sanitize the living hell outta everything, but the san stuff can wait until he's here so he can see that part of the process too.

*jonesing*.

You know, I almost like brewing beer more than I like drinking it :drunk:.

I almost feel sorry for my friend... almost :D... I wonder if he'll end up addicted or not.

I'd let your buddy do most of the "harder" work (i.e. measuring/pouring grains etc.) and focus more on sanitizing myself. Most people just dont quite get how important cleanliness is when it comes to brewing. I'd hate to have a buddy over to brew and when it comes time to drink, opps! infection!

Good luck and have fun man!

He's mostly just going to be watching really.

Don't yell at me, but what is Mac 'n Jacks? What type of beer is it? Their website didn't give me much info, and I'm just curious since I've never seen it here in WI.

I second recipe request. I went to the brewery a couple years back and got some notes from one of the brewers...but I didn't write them down, and time makes fools of us all.

You haven't seen it due to the fact it isn't distributed outside of a fairly narrow area around Seattle.

It is labeled as an African Amber; it presents cloudy amber, with a slightly citrusy note. Definitely a tasty brew, but I have never seen it as anything other than tap. I tend to overdose whenever I am in Seattle.

I like to let the assistant do everything critical while I take care of projects on brew day. Tho my assistant is a PhD chemist so I think he gets the sanitation part. But ounces give him problems... he's used to grams!

What's in my primary right now is essentially an LME/DME franken-version of the Zack and Jack's M&J African Amber clone found on HBT, but for the sake of making it easier for you to find, I will happily email you a BSM/BSMX if you have BeerSmith 1 or BeerSmith 2... and will provide the BS2 screenshots attached for the post.

[Edit] Well now, it seems the board decided to re-size those pictures :D, if you want the screenshots full-sized so you can actually read the material therein and make use of it to make beer, feel free to PM me your email address, I'll email them to you :).

Thank you ever so much. Haven't gotten around to Beersmith, so that helps a heck of a lot!

No problem. If you want better pictures pm me. There's a thread on here about a sale for beersmith you really should get in on it. It's pretty awesome.
