That reminds me of the roommate who owed me a bunch of money after I found out his portion of the rent was WAY late and I had to pay it to keep all of us from getting evicted. I sold his bed and furniture on Craigslist (half of which was on loan from me anyways). Of course, the sumbitch stills owes me $500 years later, which I'll never see. I knew I should have screwed his mom when I had the chance. (Seriously, I had the chance.)

Yeh - I've got two friends who owe me $500 and $250 respectively in rent money. The one is trying hard to pay me back, and has already paid about half of what he used to owe... The other is very spotty. *shrug*

I've written that money off - but if it ever comes back to me, I'll be a happy dude.

Explain to him, like others have said, he owes you a futon, It was not his to sell nor his apt. to have sole dictatorship over the rooms and their furniture. He either buys you a new futon of equal or greater value or you take him to the cops for theft. Simple enough. $100 is a lot for a futon mattress. Usually if you catch a sale @ a Wal-Mart or the like, you can get the whole dang futon for $100. A box-and-spring mattress is easily $500 for a reasonable one, and upwards for a truly Great one. Don't worry, it's not that much cheaper here!

hey fellas, I've been pretty busy lately, sorry for sort of abandoning the thread.

I ended up just confronting him and telling him that I needed to see the 40 bucks. He seemed a little confused why he had to give up "his" 40 bucks but I told him "it was my sister's next fall... so I need to see that 40 bucks".
