Hi,

I wonder something about potential arsenals we have in our homes :) if bottles don't explode during corbonation at room temperature, can we assume that they won't explode anymore after being refregirated? Because when temperature is dropped, the carbonation speed drops as well. Moreover lower temperature means lower pressure compared to one we have at room temperature. From these assumptions am I right about this point of view?

Thanks
:mug:

Bottle bombs are dependant on co2 volume produced but basically, if they didn'texploredat room temp then they won't explode in the fridge. Unless there's a defect in the bottle or something else uncontrollable.

Cooling down the beer will reduce the pressure inside the bottle, it should be safer once it's in the fridge.

I understood thank you very much for the replies. I had my first batch bottles lately. So I have some concerns If I built an arsenal or not :) following weeks will show me :)

But what about foam-overs? I've gotten in the habit of always opening a homebrew bottle over the sink when it was given to me by someone who I am unfamiliar with their homebrewing skills. That sounds *******. Because I suppose it can happen to anyone. I've never bottled (save for bottling from my keg) so I'm not the most knowledgeable on it.

I read somewhere (don't remember where) that the stress on the neck when you open the beer can add to the problem. When I have one that I'm worried about, I put a towel over it while opening. And I wear safety glasses.

I've carbed to 3.5 volumes in regular 12 oz bottles with no bottle bombs

as long as fermentation is complete when you bottle, you keep things sanitized and you use a priming sugar calculator, you shouldn't have to worry

well, I maybe worry if the bottles are compromised

Don't stick them in the freezer and forget about them, they will explode in there. Was running out of beer the other night and decided to put 2 in the freezer(usually do this for 30 minutes), but forgot about them. I think my inebriated state had something to do about forgetting them.

Happened to me too often. Now I put a timer on my phone to remind myself in case I forget.

Also goes quicker if you put a wet towel around the bottle.

Ditto on the timer. I set the microwave or echo timer when I throw one in the freezer or do the paper towel freezer trick.
