Basically a keg I use primarily for naturally carbing my next batch. I would cut the the dip tube by some amount (this is what i'm not sure of) and then once its carbed and I have space in the kegerator I would transfer it to one of the kegs for the fridge.

What I'm not sure of is the whole modifying the dip tube thing, when I rack it from the "carbing keg" to the kegerator keg I want to use an out to out connection but get as little of the trub/yeast that develops from the natural carb process. I'm not sure how much to cut off the dip tube, I would be a little worried about doing something that prevents the keg from functioning normally in the future as well. Leaving a 1/2 pint in the keg because the tube doesn't reach all the way isn't that bad though.

When I keg I plan on loosing a pint or 2 to remove the junk that has settled durring carbonation. I would let the keg carbonate then just put it in the fridge and let it settle for a few days. After that just server right from that keg. You will have 1 or 2 pint glasses of junk and then it should start to run clear.
You could try and put a stainless steel "scrubby" on the end of the dip tube to try and help avoid pulling too much stuff from the keg as well.
If you really want to transfer the beer I would consider trying to bend the end up the dip tube up gently. If you put a gradual bend that will allow you to fit the dip tube in you may be able to keep from cutting the tube at all.

I just leave the dip tube alone. The first pint might come out a little cloudy, but the rest of the keg will be fine (Assuming you don't move the keg around and disturb the sediment)

I just kicked a IIPA keg. The first 2 pints were a little cloudy, but the rest of the keg was crystal clear after it all settled.
The last pint, though, was GREEN :drunk: The last bit of beer washed the sediment on the bottom to the center!
