On Wednesday we'll be packing a truck and moving out of the home we've shared, for 14 years, with my alcoholic daughter and her idiot pothead husband; they've finally made it so miserable for us that to preserve our sanity and health we have to move. We haven't been allowed to see the grandkids since October and now that they are old enough to not need to be babysat or walked to school we've outlived our usefulness.
On the bright side we'll be going somewhere where we're actually wanted. We'll get to meet four grandkids that we've never seen in person. We'll be moving out of a dusty, moldy basement and downsizing to a school bus that we'll be converting to a tiny house, which will involve less than pristine bathroom accommodations, at least for a couple of months.

Good that you are getting out of that bad situation. No point in staying in a soul-sucking environment where your lives are miserable and you are not appreciated. That bus may be cramped, but it is YOUR home, and YOUR life choices. On to a better arrangement--best of luck to you!

Thank you, it will be a big adjustment, but will be worth it.
This is the last post I'll be doing for a while as I'm returning the equipment to the internet provider as soon as I log off in 10 minutes.

Good luck on your new adventure! I can't help but expect you to love your new situation. I would prefer to live meagerly and happily than to living the way you have.

We've been here for two weeks and have a lot of work ahead of us, especially since I'm no spring chicken and my wife has some health issues, but being out of the toxic environment that we were in is worth it.
The west end of the property borders on Hwy 101.

Congratulations on making it out. I hope your new adventure is a good one. Most places along 101 are pretty nice, hopefully that's where you are.

The address is in Crescent City, but we are actually closer to a small town called Ft Dick (20 miles south of the Oregon border).

I have been that way a few times. Really beautiful country there. Hopefully you will be able to enjoy it.

The husband and I did a road trip down 101 several years ago and passed by your town. Beautiful country, great camping, and away from it all. I envy you and wish you both the best of luck.

Thanks. It's also very serene after the toxic atmosphere we just got out of.

Things are going well here: our son and daughter in law have given us an old school bus to convert into a mini-house, it will be a chore, but well worth it.
It's been real great getting to know our son's kids. The youngest, an 18 month old boy, has a way of getting into things that is quite entertaining. He got into the bathroom and turned on the shower. Unfortunately he hasn't completely figured out that the clothes come off first. I passed by the bathroom door to see him standing there fully clothed and dripping wet with a big smile on his face and a cheerful wave.
