I've been using Sam Adams bottles for a long time. Recently my son wanted Sam Adams Light. OK. So, I saved those bottles too. As I was going through the ritual of soaking the labels off, I noticed that the Sam Lite bottles were not as dark of a brown as the "regular" Sams.

Any ideas why?

Marketing. Probably in a focus test, the 'light' beer drinkers responded better to the product when it was in a lighter colored container.

Second that!

Are they the same thickness? They didn't put them in cheaper bottles, did they? Do the SA Light bottles weigh the same as regular SA?
