Good Morning everyone. I've been a member for a few weeks now but am just now getting around to posting an introduction. My name is Paul and I'm an Eagle Scout (hence the handle). I'm originally from Ann Arbor, MI; spent some time in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan; and now find myself in the DC Metro Area after a short stint in Ohio. As a result I've been in beer culture most of my life, and I couldn't be happier about that. I started brewing in grad school but unfortunately had to take a short break during my transition down to DC.

When I got here about 2 years ago I was amazed at the lack of beer culture in what should be one of the more internationally diverse (and therefore beer diverse) cities in our country. As a result, I started brewing again to help fill the void left by the market. I am happy to report that things have since started to change and we have gone from 0 to 4 microbreweries currently running in the DC Metro Area, with 6-8 more proposed to open within the next year. Now, rather than brewing more standard beers to supplement the market I have started to focus on more interesting challenges, such as sour ales. I also bake bread and am about to start trying to find ways to convert my bread recipes into "multi-grain" artisan bread style beers. Not quite sure how well this will work but I'll be happy to post about my progress as it goes.

Anyway, that's enough from me for now. I think the site is great and I look forward to being an active member of your community. Cheers!
