Hi everyone,

My name is Nelson Ward and I’m from Belgium a country known for its amazing beer culture! I’ve recently taken the plunge into the world of homebrewing and I’m thrilled to be part of this fantastic community.

I’ve always been passionate about beer and am eager to learn the ins and outs of brewing. Living in Belgium, I’m lucky to have access to so many different styles and I’m hoping to experiment with a few of my own creations. So far, I’ve started with some basic brews and have been having a blast but I know there’s so much more to learn from all of you!

I look forward to connecting with fellow brewers, exchanging tips and getting advice on how to improve my brewing process. If anyone has recommendations for resources or advice on brewing Belgian style beers, I’d love to hear them!

Cheers and I’m excited to be here!

Welcome to the HBT family!

Brewing your own beer is a great hobby and you'll always be learning a lot of great aspects of it. After forty years I'm still learning and brewing great beers along the way. You'll find loads of inspiration on this site, but the internet offers a lot too.

Welcome to the forum from NY US. I really enjoy many of the Belgian styles, but have only had very good brews with a few of them. There’s a lot of good brewers here ready to share information, so look around ask questions and let us know what you’re up to.

The Westmalle yeast strain is notorious for overflowing fermenters. Watch out! I love it, but it's messy.

Trappist styles tend to use "boring" malt and special sugar syrups. The syrup and yeast are the keys to the classic dubbel/tripel/quad character. Look for "Candi Syrup, Inc." as a default brand.

Welcome aboard HBT from Alabama, US. A great brewing community here. Love Belgian beers, have actually brewed a couple of decent ones. Look forward to your contributions.
