I rarely drink Bud stuff, not out of a boycott or anything, just because I don't care for it.

That said, my daughter somehow acquired a case of Bud Light and I thought, "What the hell" and took it with us when we went to have an eclipse party a few weeks ago.

I probably had 3 or 4 beers and went to bed with the worst headache of my life (not kidding).

There were 11 left from the case and ended up dumping them all!

I don't think I've ever drained so much beer!

Well if you come up with a good use for the stuff, let us all know. Because drinking it, is not one of them.

Any recipe that gives options of beer, soda pop or water is a good place to use the likes of Bud, Miller, Coors or their light products along with almost all American lagers. You could probably use piss instead and never know the difference. Don't mean to offend anybody that likes these products, but I feel sorry that you prefer them over real beer.

So your blaming your headache on drinking Bud Light? I did a Google search and you are not alone. Other people report the same thing.
However, I would have given the beer away to someone who likes it before taking the time to pour it out. Just my 2 cents, that and $2.49 will get you a 16 oz Bud Light at a gas station....

I get migraines that have put me in the ER but rarely get a headache (there is a difference!). And if I had 4 BL's that night I can honestly say that is the most BL I have ever drank in one sitting.

So I am kinda leaning toward BL=headache!

After that it felt good standing there and pouring 11 cans down the drain!! :)

I can drink Coors, Coors Light, Miller Lite all day long but BL...PASS! I think a good use for that crap is to wash it down the drain!! Haha!

I for one hate the stuff. IMO the only thing it's ok for is a beer batter.
As one poster said, it has no flavor. Funny thing is my brother in law is a coors light/bud light drinker and he drank one of my blonde's and the first two words out of his mouth were it has flavor and smells good. But he didn't care for it. Go figure.

Most Americans can probably relate to this. At some point in our lives we have found ourselves at a social gathering where a BMC beverage served as the primary source of cheap and readily available alcohol. Well anyone that can relate to such an event may also be able to relate to getting to a point after much BMC consumption(really drunk), to where one's senses have dulled and flavor senses have become so numbed from the steady consumption of cold BMC( that it literally tastes exactly like cold carbonated water. Real beer is never supposed to be so devoid of flavor that it tastes like that

Were they deported for breaking the Reinheitsgebot law?

:mug:

Initially they couldn't help it, given that the 6-Row malted barley available to them in North America makes for very cloudy beer. Corn and/or rice were added by necessity to sparkling clarify it. This being a matter of the protein content of 6-Row vs. 2-Row. Corn and rice lower the protein level....

But now that 2-Row is abundant in North America, they no longer have this once legitimate excuse.

The lite beers are way too watery, but the biggest problem I see for the standard offerings of the big Lager breweries (as well as the Lite's) is that they have depleted beer of its hops. Add some hops and there would be great improvement. Add later flavor and aroma additions, and there would be even more improvement. It's not necessarily the corn and rice that are ruining the flavor.

IBU's have fallen over the decades, and are down to about 10-12 at present. Pre-prohibition, the figure was closer to 30-35 IBU's.

Id love to try some of the pre-prohibition offerings. Try long defunct brews like those from Lemp.

I agree with you in respect to the light versions, but Coors Original is alright. If you have tried Warsteiner or Bitburger, it is kind of a maltier version of those.
Yes, I only know the German ones you are talking about, never tried Coors original, did not even know that it exists :D

I guess the original can be OK, don't know. I agree with you, lite and beer does not go well together.

Also agree regarding the depletion of hops and ibus.

You can try jever, it is not very malty but quite bitter. Guess that would be my definition of an enjoyable "lite".

I've had some free BL on my hands a couple of times. Gave it to my buddy that drinks that crap. He was happy to get it, I was happy to get rid of it.

I use regular Budweiser (not light) for crab boils and also in Belgian Beef Stew. I'll drink it if we're out somewhere and it's the only thing available. If I have to buy commercial beer (due to nothing in the pipeline, horrors!!) and funds are too low to buy craft, I'll usually get classic Coors as it does have some flavor to it.

Neighbor bought me a case of Bud(not light but it still tastes like horse piss to me), I smiled and said thank you then gave it to the migrant work crew who stays here in town. They drink anything... they were working behind my house yesterday and were drinking Old Milwaukee at lunch!

I also get nasty headaches from Budweiser products. Doesn't matter how much I drink, even half a can. That alone keeps me from drinking it. The taste(or lack of) helps keep me away too. If it was the only thing being offered at a gathering, I would go thirsty. I wonder if it would be as good at cleaning toilets as Coke is.
