So I have an IPA in primary right now and its been dry hopped (with pellets) for like 10 days at this point. The plan was to bottle today, but due to some unfortunate circumstances, that can happen for about a week. I didn't use a hop bag or anything, so I can't pull the hops out. I have an empty carboy that I think I'll rack to, but the problem is its a 6 gallon one. Is that too much head space for a secondary?

Nope, you'll be fine. I've done it myself with positive results. There should still be enough CO2 in the beer that racking it will cause it to float to the surface, and tah-dah, you've got your protective cushion.
