is a 5500w 240v ulwd ripp element too much for a 10g kettle doing 5g biab batches?

As long as it fits, I don't see a problem. Faster heating will speed up the brew process.
I brew 5 gallons in a 15 gallon pot with 5500w.
If it's not too late, you should think about a 15g pot, though.

I've had my 10g kettle for awhile now, so kinda locked in with it. I normally don't have a problem fitting the grain bill in. Some bigger beers do get close though. what type of time range are you getting with the 5500w?

You will likely need a PWM or PID with manual mode to dial the heat down enough for a good, steady boil without boilovers.

Yeah. The control panel is done. I finished it up last week. It's a 30a 240v system with PID control. I'm just starting the last part of my build, the kettle. Just curious if the 5500w element is overkill.

It should be perfect, unless you would prefer to spend more time waiting for things to come up to temp. Well done.
