5/16 barbs with 5/16 lines still spin when using clamps

Replaced my gas lines with https://www.morebeer.com/products/ultra-barrier-gas-pvc-free-beer-tubing-516-id-foot.html

I have 5/16 barbs on my regulator and on the ball lock side. I used worm clamps but the hose still spins on both sets of connections. If I over tighten then hose just tears apart through the worm clamp. Can this be an airtight seal but still spin? Is this particular hose just crap?

Am I missing something here?

When doing gas lines I find that the oeticker crimp clamps are the best most reliable way to go. This is an example of what I have used. I think it may be the same tool. I got mine at either Home Depot or Lowe's and you can buy the clamps in much smaller quantities so you're looking to spend more like $15-20.

+1 on that, Jekeane gave you very good advice. I do the same, oetiker clamps all the time, I use them on my liquid lines also. You may want to go with barbed swivel nuts and flare connections also instead of straight barbs, but if not that is ok just try those oetiker clamps and it will be rock solid with no leaks.

Typically I'll undersize a gas line when making a connection. I.e., if using a 1/4" line I'll use a 5/16" barb, heat the line and slip it over the bard.

Oetiker are my choice as well. I buy them on ebay. You have to know what size you need though.

Generally, you can buy them in bags of 50 for about $10 (free shipping) on ebay... or $0.50 a piece from your lhbs. The lhbs markup is ridiculous.

I use nippers to close them up. Basically the same thing the lhbs sells. You can buy them at harbor freight for like $3.

I never recommend using the same size barbs. I use 1/4" ID gas lines on 5/16" barbs and even with the serving lines I like 1/4" barbs for 3/16" tubing. I sell oetikers for less than 25 cents.
