45 Degree NPTstraight tube Pickup, Keggle

If I put a 45 degree NPT fitting on the inside of my weldless bulkhead could I then use a straight tube down to the center for pickup, rather than buying a bent stainless tube fitting into a standard coupling?

Do I save any money by doing this? Do i lose any flexbility in the future? (ie why doesn't everybody do this?)

Could I later turn my fitting so my straight tube goes at an angle towards the side of the keg (rather than to the center) if I ever wanted to whirlpool?

Or use a copper pickup tube which is simple to bend or cooper pipe with a 45 degree copper fitting... solutions at 1/10th the price

So the cheapest way to do a pickup tube is copper tubing.

The price of keggle parts seems to mount up quick. Am I very Scottish?
