I'm at a bit of a head scratch. I brewed 4 gallons of various malts, used same yeast as always. These were my third batches of brews and all went well with the previous two. All went well with fermenting with this third batch during the two weeks. After bottling nothing was carbonated. The only thing I did different this time from previous is not allow any sediment to enter the beer bottles from the jugs. I filtered it with a fine mesh. Previous brews were not filtered prior to bottling and funneled into the beer bottles just the same. They came out great but like weisens. Where did I screw up? Could filtering kill carbonation?

Too late to add it? It's been about 5 days since bottling. Recapping is easy

cant hurt at this point right? they make carb drops and you can just add one to each bottle.

I would use carbonation drops. It's not going to be easy to get the correct amount of priming sugar in each bottle. Just pop the top, put the drop in, and re-cap. I wouldn't re-use the caps.

Edit: beat me to it.

Bottled my fourth batch this weekend. Prepped all morning including boiling up my priming sugar. Started filling my first bottle when I looked over to the stove, and there it was. Luckily I saved face and just had one 12 0z with no priming sugar in it that I chilled and split with my brew buddy afterwards. Best of luck to you, if I had to do it, I'd definitely be looking at those tablets instead of trying to weight out all those little charges yourself. Cheers.

Running fermented wort through a filter may have oxygenated your beer. Not related to the carb problem, just FYI. You can filter successfully if you have a legging system because you can flush the lines with CO2.

Problem solved. As soon as I added the sugar...tiny bubbles. Recapped with new caps and stowed. They will be ready just in time for my Air Force Retirement Day :)
