I'm brewing today for the second time and I am pretty excited. I'm brewing Northern Brewers Irish Draught extract kit. I also got in a copper wort cooler so I can't wait to see how that works out. Wish me luck!

Between the cost, (which I realize for some all grainers is pretty low) the time, and the equipment involved, it can get spendy. Do any of you have a donation jar or anything at your house for when friends are drinking your homebrew? Obviously, it's a hobby and we all brew because we enjoy it, but it costs money and it doesn't brew itself.
Nope.
But I have a friend who has a smoker and he doesn't have a donation jar either. I'm sure his pork and brisket is spendy, but he wouldn't invite me if he didn't want to.
I have one friend who thinks homebrew is "free" but he comes over and enjoys it and doesn't drink all that much anyway.
I can make 10 gallons of beer for about $25-$40, depending on what I'm making. (Sometimes it's less). I would never ask anybody to contribute.
