you guys were so damn helpful the last time with my bull**** questions, I've got one more for you.

I'm brewing an IPA and intend to dry hop in 2nd fermentation, the kit I have has my 2oz of Willamette hops vacuum sealed in one package, 1 oz is called for during the wort boil and the second for dry hopping.

How do I properly store the 2nd oz of hops for when I will need it in a week or two?

Thanks a lot, you guys are aces!

Just wrap it up tightly in the original sealed bag and store it in a cool and dry storage place away from sunlight...it should hold fine for a few weeks.

Again, thanks a lot.

One more question for tonight..

I just pitched the yeast and put the stopper on it, it doesn't seem to be sitting in there very well at all.

Last time it went right in and stayed there, now it just keeps sliding farther and farther out. Is this a problem?

So last question for the night.

(I figured out the stopper problem)

I took my hydrometer reading and came up with an impossibly low OG of 1.049 for an IPA that the recipe says it should be 1.062.

I'm starting to get really worried here... How could it be so crazy low?

It's likely low because your top off water and wort aren't mixed well. Don't worry about it - they'll mix fine as fermentation begins...guess-timate your OG now and let her sit for a few weeks and then then start your hydrometer testing until you arrive at your intended FG and it's consistent for a few days before bottling.
