Hi Everybody,

Today I just transferred my second batch (Simcoe Select IPA from Midwest Supplies) to the secondary. It was in the primary fermenter for three weeks. I think I will keep it in the secondary for one week and then bottle. I had a question about this gunk that was around the top of the bucket, does this look like the results of it getting infected...or is that just normal stuff part of krausen..? Some of it was kind of crusted on. I tasted a little sample and it seemed to taste fine. Thanks.

Yeah just some of the krausen most likely. Was it tan/brownish, and looked like dried froth?

Yeah, it was brownish and looked like somewhat crusty froth. I thought I linked to a photo, but guess I did that wrong. I'll have to find instructions on how to post photos properly. I was just caught a little off guard when I opened this lid on this one. My first batch didn't have nearly that much gunk. Thanks for the info.

Figured out the picture issue. Above is what it looked like.

You can't add photo until after 25 posts.

Just host it on imgur.com and give a link for now.
