So, first time at the SARA taproom. I got there an hour early so it was nice to find the surrounding area was residential and had a small town feel. Being right by the high-way, I was expecting a rather industrial area.

Had four beers: Appreciation, Full Hands In, Vanilla Joe, and a splash of Transmission Received. All were very solid. Pretty easily the best taproom offering I've had.

Full Hands In was my favorite. It had the largest funk profile, and in my opinion, the most depth without sacrificing balance. Following that was Appreciation. It reminded me of LPF but with the funk taking more of a back seat to the berry flavor. Vanilla Joe and Transmission Received were both quite good, with preference to Vanilla Joe for drinkability, but without any barrel character to add dimension I was hoping for more deep roast flavors.

Got three bottles of Adjunct Brackish because I love blackberries in beer. I've never liked vanilla in wild ales, though, so we'll see if SARA is the exception.

Oh, and the atmosphere at the taproom was great. It was quiet and I liked the decor. Every one there seemed like good people.
I feel like your Full Hands In was a different beer than the one I had. A rare miss for me — puckeringly sour.

Huh, that's strange. I'm usually pretty sensitive to very acidic or sour beer. It's why I don't really go to the Rare Barrel despite living nearby. I actually found Appreciation to be the more tart beer because of the fruit additions.

Maybe it's just different people having different palates. It could also be barrel variation. I've been told wild ales vary greatly from barrel to barrel and maybe my pour came from a more tame barrel than yours.

The best taproom atmosphere of any brewery I have been to I think.

Had a really odd bottle on Saturday at the Portal... Not sure if it's this current or previous batch. Unusually hoppy and bitter.

They can't do it at the brewery; anything non-sour would get infected anyway simply from the ambient bugs. They'd have to barrel-age it elsewhere.
Can’t do what at the brewery? Fill or age? All the Insta stories were them filling barrels at the brewery..

Had this stashed up at my parents place in Seattle waiting for when I visited during oyster season. Kumamoto oysters. Thanks for the bottle shanrath . Didn't actually pick up a ton of briney flavor on the beer but it might have just been overwhelmed by the much stronger flavor of the actual oysters. Really great beer nonetheless.

"Your fourth allotment of 2017 will be ready for pickup starting Friday, December 15th, 2017 at our Capitola location ONLY (Not the Portal!). You'll be receiving three (3) bottles with this allotment, including Much Appreciated, a double version of our beloved Appreciation, aged twice as long with twice the fruit. This jammy, vinous ale was purposefully carbonated low to accentuate it's wine-like characteristics. You will also receive Capitola Sunset, our mixed fermentation Saison, and Cask Cherry, our Solera-style Saison with cherries."
