As i've mentioned a few times because I'm so freaking excited about it, Mark and I are meeting up at Tired Hands Weds if anyone else wants to stop by.
Initially I thought at least half the people attending the NHC are on this forum, but from the few responses in this thread I may be way off or they're just not very (re-)active.
Yes, it would be nice to have an HBT pow-wow. I'm pinning my handle and avatar on my badge. Watch for the Lizard.
There are many food options in walkable distance, just finding the right one can be mind boggling. In case you're interested, 2 blocks north from the Marriott, Arch Street, is the center of "Chinatown" a 6 block area.
Well, life changes plans...my mom passed away this morning so I'll be spending the week in Phoenix instead of Philly. Sorry I'll miss everyone.

.
I was planning on going to chinatown on Tuesday evening for dinner (alone, unless someone wants to join me). Does that sound reasonable, for a little old lady to walk there and back for dinner?
It should be an early night for me, since I'm leaving here at 4 AM (ugh) for my flight to Philly.

I'd like to check out Tired Hands too. What time are you looking at? BNA starts around 7 I think, but we could be a little late.
Also, it sounds like several of us are not doing the Awards Banquet on Saturday. If that's the case, perhaps we can do a HBT dinner meet?
They open at 4. So I'll probably be there about 3:45 with my sanitized growlers looking like a big ol beer nerd.
Saturday night dinner sounds like a fun idea. Not doing the banquet either. Here's the no 1 Chinese place on Yelp. Dang I love to eat. Only thing I don't like about living here is that there is nowhere to eat.
What about Triumph Brewing on Saturday evening? It's a long walking distance, but if the weather is nice we can walk it (or share a cab). I've never been there, but I heard about it somewhere and wondered about it.

I'm going. Haven't read through most of the thread though. Hoping I can hitch a ride with a clubmate, if not I'll be taking the bus up. I've got a ride with a clubmate down.
ha! i was just about to ask if scrapple is big in PA. i know it's huge in DE and MD, but i haven't had it in a while. might be the perfect breakfast for the morning after the night before...But in Philly, scrapple & eggs FTW. :rockin:
Drooling on my keyboard just thinking about scrapple.

I was in Philly for a conference a couple of years ago and made a point to get to a good breakfast joint for scrapple.
i need a name and address, NOW.
to anyone who has no idea what we're talking about: do NOT look into what scrapple is. trust me - it's the hot dog of breakfast meat. it's also delicious. if you're an adventurous carnivore, just go for it. otherwise, stick with your meats of known origin. personally, i recommend that you go for it![]()

On the off chance you can leave weds a.m., I'm staying at my sisters in DC Tuesday and then driving to philly on weds.

Not something I'm ever in a hurry to try. I've heard its good, but grits are supposedly good too, and I can't stand them.
TNGabe said:I think a HBT meet and greet would be fun! To me, Thursday lunch or Friday after the last seminar both look like good times.
On a seperate note, do any locals have good late night (non-cheesestreak) drunk food suggestions?
Grits, scrapple and eggs over easy. YUM!It's not like grits. It's like...scrapple. Give it a shot, really.
the conference hotel charges 12.95 a day for interwebs....bastards
None of that parking crap for me...I live close enough that I'm taking the train every day. $16 each way and no hotel room expense....more money for swag.Yeah, and $45 a day for parking!
I"m bringing my little wifi "hotspot" and hope it works, as I don't have a smartphone like everybody else in America seems to!
If my hotspot works, I'll let you use it for only $9.95 a day/
Or free if you happen to be close by.
