I just received my 20 Gallon boilermaker, and there appears to be a welded seam from top to bottom along one side. It is for the most part smooth, like it was sanded/buffed to be fairly flush and when you run your hand across it the surface is slightly irregular, or perhaps just not as smooth as the rest of the kettle. I also have a 10 Gallon which doesn't have the seam. I wanted to know if anyone else noticed a similar seam when they received their kettle.

I did email the retailer & Blichmann to see if they believe it's normal as well, waiting on a response.

Is this somehow a problem for you?

Not a problem. Just different than the other one I have, so I wanted to make sure it was expected while I have the opportunity to exchange if needed. 400 bucks is an expensive piece of equipment.

I have 3 of the 20 gallon ones and they all have the welded seam. That's just the way they are.

Perfect. That's what I was hoping. This thing makes my 10 gallon pot look insignificant, and I thought that was huge when I got it.

Now I just need to hope the SS quick disconnects are back in stock at Midwest or b3 in the next few weeks. I have plans for 10 gallons of pumpkin ale the day the local orchard starts selling pumpkins.
