Okay... I think I am just being paranoid but I brewed a SMaSH using 10 pounds of 2-row. According to everything I have read 2-row has an SRM rating of 1.8..... Mine has come out a deep red... almost like a light bock. I kinda have two questions.

When you use more then 1 pound of grain, is there a formula that you need to use to figure the SRM rating?? 10 pounds grain X 1.8 SRM / 5 gallons??

Second... does this picture look right for a 10 pound 2-Row SMaSH?

That's in a carboy. There's a lot less light passing through that. Take a sample and put it in a normal glass. It will look much lighter.

The boil wasnt aggressive at all... I brew all grain on the stove. Would the boil effect color??

You guys are right, I figured the color would come out more golden. Just paranoid, like all the other batches... I should go grab a beer.

Thanks guys!!

also i think your water may have something to do with color--I understand that harder water has a tough time making very light beers. I don't know the chemistry, but maybe that has something to do with it? Also agree with others--it will be lighter once you get it in the glass (had this happen with a bitter I brewed)
