Rookie question here...I found from a friend who works at a local farm store that I can get 50 pounds of 2 row barley for $25. It comes from a local farmer who supplies the store. It looks just like the barley sold for home brewing. Is 2 row barley fairly the same or are there types grown that are not generally suited for brewing? Hoping it’s worthy to try!! Cheers.

Are you planning on malting it yourself? Difficult thing to bring off, only because you likely won't know the specs going in. Either way, though, you'd need this malted - you may know that.

Yeah, is that malted?

There are people who have tried home malting on here, I think. A quick google search of home malting might also give you some interesting results.

I hope it is already malted.

Yea shoulda known the price was too good to be true. Was unaware of the difference. Back to plan A. Thanks!

Don't know what your plan A is, Jebba, but depending on where you live, you might be able to get into a group buy and save some dollars in purchasing bags of malt. I usually spend around $35/50lb bag.
