I know there's a thread on this, but it didn't really answer much.

I made an Irish red Saturday, OG was 1.055, a hair higher than anticipated. It had a particularly active ferment, blowing the blowoff tube across the garage and all after it got clogged with hops. On day two I threw an air lock on and it didn't bubble at all, so I took a gravity reading and it was at 1.013.

Double checked the hydro and it's good. Since my fermentation had pretty much ran it's course. How long should I wait for the yeast to clean its self up? Would It really benefit to secondary or straight off to the keg?

Yeast was wyeast 1084.

2-3 weeks and no reason to secondary a red in my opinion. You'll allow the beer to clear and the yeast to continue to work its magic. Your beer undoubtedly can or will taste very green after only 2 days. I leave it alone for at least 7 before I futz with it. You keep opening it and you can oxidize it. Be careful, you don't want to ruin a good beer.

And the threads on this provide exactly these answers. Not that it's a problem, but they do.

More notes: airlock activity is not a sure fire way to tell if a beer is finished. Beer needs time to clear and condition

I highly recommended you read How to Brew. It's helpful because it does explain these little intricacies of brewing.

Often, stories like this go hand-in-hand with a warm fermentation, and warm fermentations usually need a little extra conditioning time.

Just curious, what temp were you fermenting at? How much yeast did you pitch, and how big of a batch did you brew?
