I was just curious, if you find a 5 gallon recipe and cut it in half, do you still cook the same amount of time and have the same boil size? Then in the end just add water to 2.5 gallons?

Yes.

Well, the boil size might change if you are used to starting with 4 or 5 gallons of course. But otherwise, no, it's exactly the same only you use half of the ingredients except for the yeast.
 
Excellent, I was just making sure. So having extra yeast won't change flavors or anything?
