My wife and I just brewed our 1st beer NOT using a pre packaged kit. I just finished brewing an IPA so I let her choose a recipe from the database. We made some minor changes to the origional recipe posted by dcott. This is what we did.

Recipe Type: Extract
Yeast:White Labs Belgian wit ale-WLP410
Batch Size (Gallons): 5
Original Gravity: 1.054
Boiling Time (Minutes): 65
Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 21 days @ 68-70

Pre Boil

4oz Honey Malt
3/4oz White Wheat

Boil

7# Briess Bavarian Wheat LME (65mins)

1oz Liberty Hop Pellets A.A. 4.0% (60mins)

8oz Gunter's Orange Blossom Honey (30)

.5oz Tetnanger Hop Pellets AA 4.4% (15)
8oz POM Pomegranate Juice (15)
.5oz Whole Corriander Seed (15)

.5 oz Tetnanger Hop Pellets AA 4.4% (10)
.5 oz Whole Corriander Seed-crushed (10)
sweet orange peel - 1oz (10)

1oz elderflower, dried (5)
.5oz chamomeil tea (5)

modeled after recipe titled "elderflower pomegranate wit" posted by dcott in "fruit beer" section of recipe database.

I'm really excited about this beer, I'll let you know how it tastes in a month or so.

That's a pretty ambitious first go. I can see your inner mad scientist at work. I hope it works out for you!

That first non-kit beer is a bit scary but as you continue you will learn what works and what isn't the best combination. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It was ambitious, but this was the funnest brewing day I've had yet. Felt like I was actually brewing.
