14 days fermenting ?

When I get in next week from offshore my beer will have been fermenting 14 days (Nut Brown Ale Extract kit). I will check the gravity of course but even if it has stopped fermenting, should I wait or should I bottle? If I wait it will be at least another 14 days (28 days total) before I will be home to bottle it. Suggestions????
 
Let it wait... the yeast will not just be making alcohol, but they'll be cleaning up some unpleasant flavours, as well.
 
+1. I have been leaving my beers on the yeast for much longer than I used to - normally 10-14 days. That, along with other things, have contributed to an improvement in flavour and clarity.
 
IMO most yeast strains are done with a average beer before two weeks, after that it's just aging. It can age in the bottle and carbonate at the same time. I usually let it go two weeks then crash it for a week and bottle. At 31F the yeast do nothing but play dead.
 
I've recently thought about racking my British style ales to a corny keg as a secondary after the second week. Letting it sit in the secondary for two weeks and then racking it to another corny keg, under counter pressure, that has been primed with a little boiled up pressed cane juice.
 
I now brew without secondary and only primary. I leave it to have its fun for 4-6 weeks.
 
Follow the advice from Papazian in Revvy's avitar! For everything except brew day, laziness comes in pretty handy for making bier! Let it rest, bottle @ 28 days straight from the primary! I'll add I get slightly clearer beer by using irish moss or whirlflock tablets in my boil if I'm not using a secondary. I assume you're not using a secondary. Just advice from my experience if you continue bottling from the primary, which I do with most of my biers.

Let it sit another 14 days, you will be happy with the results. I did a Nut Brown Ale last year and it sat in primary for a little over 4 weeks then 3 weeks in the bottle and it was excellent..........

It's just that I have this nice 14.5 gallon conical fermenter and would like to acquire 15 gallon kegs to use for condition and develop carbonation under controlled pressure and subsequently keg under counter-pressure into two or three 5 gallon cornies for storage.
