I made my house bitter with 1028 this past version because my basement is too cold for 1098. Anyways, I cracked one last night, and the yeast taste simply dominated the flavor profile.

I'm going to throw it back in conditioning phase for a couple weeks and see if anything changes.

I don't see this yeast used much around here, and I'm wondering if there is a reason. I know the site says it's more suited for porters, but I didn't think it'd be this prominant in a bitter.
 
Can you elaborate on what you mean? Wyeast 1028 is a great all purpose ale yeast IMO and pretty mellow in ester production compared to many English strains.
 
I just made an IPA with 1028 & it turned out real nice, I haven't noticed any yeasty flavors at all.
