1 Litro Bottles?

Hello,
I'm brewing in Costa Rica out of necessity. There is one brewery and the beer is expensive and generally sucks.

I'm building a Son of Fermenter right now, though I could not get rigid insulation, so I am using 4" thick Styrofoam. It is ugly, especially since I had to make the cuts by hand with a hack saw blade. Maybe, "Red Headed Step Child of Fermenter" is a better description.

Anywho, I can get tons of 1 liter bottles. I would like to use them to save on bottling time, but I'm not sure if I can reuse the caps. They are screw on caps.

Can I reuse the caps?

The have a rubber or wax in the top that seems to reseal if you screw them down tight.

Did you just move to Costa Rica? There's about 3 established craft breweries whose beer you can find at certain bars, including Costa Rica's Craft Brewing. This is excluding the main brewery Cervecería de Costa Rica, which produces mostly lagers for mass consumption (think Bud, Miller).
There's also a growing home brewing scene. There's also a lot of supply when it comes to imports like Hoegaarden, Sam Adams, Leffe, Stella, etc. I even got some Delirium recently.
I wouldn't use a styrofoam cooler, mostly due to pieces coming loose during the process (i.e. stirring). I'd also imagine it might contribute off flavors. It wouldn't last long, I'm not sure how well you can sanitize it and I bet its very porous.
There's two home brewing stores I know of where you can get a lot of supplies, including plastic bucket fermenters and glass carboys. Look up Ticobirra and La Bodega De Chema.

I wouldn't use the screw on caps either, I don't think they are able to keep the CO2 in after being opened. You can buy caps at the stores I mentioned.
