I am building a 1bbl system and am trying to figure out how to get my 55 gallon SS barrel up to boil. My original plan was to use two SQ-14's, but after looking I could get one of these

the bayou seems to put out just as many BTU's as two SQ-14's. Should the one burner work?

Do you have access to natural gas? My boil pot is 30 gallons and after a year of lugging multiple propane tanks around I made the switch, it takes a lot of propane to boil 30 gallons for an hour plus with the HLT and MT you need 3 tanks just to be safe.

I bought one of these and I have to turn it down once the boil gets going....

Do you think the 32 tip burner would be over kill? It is only about $10 more. I will also be heating strike water and sparge water in the same barrel. If it saves me 10 minutes getting to boil and 10 more getting to strike temp it would be worth it.

Well the SQ-14 was the least powered burner in my system before I went electric. Actually thats one of the reasons why I did. Good luck with yours!
