SWMBO and I went out on the town and passed a gun show at a local venue. On a whim, we paid the cheap admission and took a look around. I really wasn't planning on buying anything, with the unlikely exception of an authentic German bayonet of WWII vintage. One vendor actually had the bayonet I wanted, but it was WAY overpriced. Then it happened...
I walked by the competition clays gun of my dreams. I've always wanted an over/under 12 ga with 30"-32" barrels and adjustable chokes. I grew up trapshooting, so the smooth swing of a long gun appeals to me, even for skeet. I've also always coveted Briley tubes that allow you to shoot multiple gauge shells from one gun. This gun had it all. It was a Spanish made 32" barreled Kemen that fit me like a glove and had ALL the accessories, including a complete set of Briley tubes. The price was quite low - about what it would cost to fit a gun with a set of tubes.
...and I had to walk away! It was the smart/right thing to do. We just bought an expensive grill, our house hasn't sold yet, and we're about to go house hunting again. There's just no way to justify a purchase like that, even at a "bargain" price.
On the plus side, it was a used gun, and, after seeing the look in my eyes when I saw this one, SWMBO told me we'd save up for a brand new Beretta 680-series with all the trimmings. I love that woman.
