BeerBug - Out of business?

Does anybody know if Beerbug went out of business. I had mine in for service and now I can't get anyone to return my e-mails.

I never really had much luck with it from a gravity accuracy standpoint but it was good for monitoring temperature when away from the fermentor.

Hey Guys, Sorry for the long silence there simply is not an update currently, We're experiencing some complicated technical problems. We're doing everything we can to get things fixed and to ensure proper function. We hope to have a more substantive update wednesday.

I'm surprised with all the issues lately that the online vendors (NB, More Beer, etc...) haven't stopped selling them. There was a deal a couple weeks ago to get one for around $100 which I almost pulled the trigger on. Then I am across all the issues and saw it doesn't work without their services. That is a deal breaker since it appears to be an expensive paper weight since you cannot track anything without their services...

I was hopeful of buying one of these at some point but I guess not...

Just my .02, but I looked at one of these several times over the last couple of years, but was always turned off by the reviews and the fact that it's locked to THEIR cloud.

That being said, I picked up a Tilt (http://tilthydrometer.com/products/brewometer) a few months back which is $120 and kicks ass... it's pretty damn accurate over time and you can log data to your own spreadsheet. There's a big thread on here that talks about it and I'd certainly recommend this if you want gravity monitoring.

+1 for the Tilt. I originally looked at the BrewBug, but was put off by the price and the fact it had to fit through the airlock. I've been using a Tilt since June and couldn't be happier.

I have used a beerbug since they started up. Worked great for me up until all the issues this year. Too bad I was ready to buy another for sour beers.

When they first came out they were extremely highly priced for what they are.. The price changed considerably depending on what computer you viewed from and what day of the weeks as they were trying to figure out a good price for it ( when I pulled it up it was Like $300!) There is thread on this here somewhere about the pricing being all over the place. I think this would have resulting in lackuster sales. Then they were $200 and it looks like they dropped to close to $150 in the end and even then the seller should have been able to make a good profit for what it consists of.

According to their FB page, they have been acquired by a company called SensorShare.

They said they hope to have a new website up this week (posted on 10/31/2016)

I still have mine, and I like them but just ordered 2 Tilts as well.

Can't hurt to get multiple points of data on a brew anyway.

Saw this the other day. I will hold off until they change it so the Beer Bug isn't dependent on their cloud services.

Same exact question! I literally just googled " did BeerBug go out of business? and this thread came up. I am having issues and no response to my emails??

They just got the website up mostly functional late Saturday. A bunch of us have brews that we can not delete or finish. They are still working on fixing things that broke.

That's a step in the right direction, at least. Unfortunately, I already returned my BeerBug and am not going to be holding out for the relaunch. Hopefully they can resurrect this product, but I'm afraid they're going to need to start brainstorming a new name soon...

If you bought it on a credit card between 1 and 2 years ago, you may be able to file a warranty request with your card company. If it's less than 1 year ago, you're stuck trying to deal with the manufacturer more than likely.

There have been rumors that the manufacturer has offered refunds in the past (though given the recent buyout/takeover I wouldn't be surprised if they declined to repeat the practice)
